it's the end of the world as we know it...

oh no! yesterday i found out that a co-worker is an atheist...
okay let me give a back story to this...the majority of my co-workers are conservative republicans, not that there is anything other than the obvious wrong with that...but another co-worker of mine happens to be a liberal hippy...okay i am sure you can see where this is going!

so yesterday, the liberal hippy co-worker sneezed, i said, 'bless you', now i am not even a tiny bit religious at all, but i am polite at least so when someone sneezes i am okay with saying, 'bless you'. liberal hippy co-worker didn't reply to me at all, no thank you, nothing. which is fine, most of the time she keeps to herself and doesn't pay attention to anyone else around her, so really i didn't care. but one of the conservative republican co-workers quickly emails me saying, 'she didn't say thank you to you, she is an atheist...'

now of course i do know the liberal hippy co-worker is in fact an atheist, but that scary part is that the other co-workers hold that and her liberalism against her...they call her a lumberjack behind her back! sure she wears big flannel shirts and hippy sandals, but come on, she is married (not a lesbian) and she shaves! but now to be calling her mean things and saying she is evil cause she is 'godless' is just plain stupid, maybe they have read too much ann coulter or something, but really come on, give the girl a break, (i only say this cause it is only a matter of time before they catch on to my views as well...) she is entitled to her own views, and since when did the office become a place of discrimination?!

i on the other hand have managed to escape their liberal atheist radar so far...today in central PA (and maybe other places as well) is wear red to support the war and the troops day, of course they are all wearing red, i however am not wearing red, and not cause i don't support the troops, i am okay with that, but i am not okay with the war, so why the heck would i wear red (besides i think wear 'x' color days are weird...i don't even wear green on st. pats day -- and i am irish!!) . but anyway, i think that they are catching on to me...so i am probably going to be ostracized from the group very soon, and they will probably come up with some stupid name for me as well, hopefully it is cool and not as horrible as 'lumberjack'... ;-)

sing along!

" ... I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK. I sleep at night and I work all day ... "

who organizes these 'wear a color' days? it's probably a faction of the bloods gang that planted the seeds for this one. getting everyone to wear red? brilliant recruiting move.

Nothing wrong with liking Red. Or maybe soccer fever is catching on.

okay my red prejudice is only to the fools wearing it today at work, i have nothing against either cornell or manutd!! ;-)

I thought that lumberjacks were conservative, not hippies. I think those conservatives you work with might be confused. All of the lumberjacks I know cut down trees, and I've only met a couple of hippies who do that!

deann - you are right. lumberjacks and hippies are complete opposites, but if you read about my wonderful co-workers you will understand the intelligence level i am dealing with! ;-)
